Reports from Taiwan suggest that an ASUS subsidiary there is in the process of developing a version of Microsoft’s XBox 360 gaming console that supports Blu-ray discs. There’s been news before of Lite-On making a stand-alone Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360, but this is the first news to go in the direction of built-in Blu-ray support for the Xbox.

Though the news may not be all that surprising, given Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer’s comments earlier this year given in support of the Blu-ray format.
